The king is dead, and his daughter has taken the throne. But the kingdom is in a miserable state, decaying day by day. If only she could give them an heir. Or lead the army on the front lines to expand the realm’s borders. Or at least enter into a marriage that could forge new alliances.

But the princess will neither bear children, wage war, nor marry. She wants to hunt, read books, write, dress as she pleases, and lie with whomever she desires. Even though the power of the realm rests in her hands, she is powerless in the face of society’s expectations and demands.

She wants to be king — on her own terms.

What do you do when you are born into a role you never wanted?
